Mounties Finish 2024 with Win over Crandall
The Mount Allison Mounties women's volleyball team took to the floor in the McCormack Gymnasium for the second day in a row as they played host to their local rivals, the Crandall Chargers.
The home Mounties would come out firing in the first set with long rallies led by great setting from Logan Tait and serving from Marie Fogarty and would take the first set 25-13.
Mount Allison would continue to lead for the first half of the second set to 17-14 before Crandall would take 6 of the next 7 points to swing the momentum in their favour and use that to push them to a 25-21 set win to even the match at 1.
The Mounties would come out strong in the third set taking 6 of the first 8 points and would eventually lead 13-7 before Crandall started to make their push, eventually bringing it to within one point but that would be as close as they would come as the Mounties would take the set 25-22 and lead the match 2-1.
Set #4 would see both teams trade leads early on before a Mount Allison run would see them take 7 of 9 points to go from 13-13 to ahead 19-15 thanks to clutch kills from Ella Boudreau. The Mounties would go on to take the set 25-20 and the match 3-1.
Mount Allison enter the winter break at 9-1 and return to action on Friday, January 10th on the road against St. Thomas with first serve set for 6:00pm. Crandall (3-6) play their first match of 2025 on Saturday, January 11th in Saint John against the UNBSJ Seawolves with first serve set for 6:00pm.
