Mount Allison University Athletics and Recreation Facilities
The recreation facilities are available for use, with you're tailored Fitness Centre Membership choice. Our Athletics and Recreation facilities include Mount Allison's olympic-sized swimming pool, open-gym times in the Athletic Centre gymnasium, the weight room, fitness centre and studio.
The Athletic Centre
The Athletic Centre is home to the Department of Athletics and Recreation and includes a swimming pool, gymnasium, weight room, and athletic therapy room.
The gymnasium hosts our Basketball, Volleyball, and Badminton Mounties. The gymnasium is also available for use at scheduled open recreation times. Proper clothing and non-marking running shoes are required.
Equipment is provided free of charge, although a $20 refundable deposit is required when borrowing equipment which will be removed from the building (i.e. tennis raquets, golf clubs). Conference guests are asked to leave a room key or meal card as collateral when signing out equipment.
Fitness Centre and Fitness Centre Studio
This facility houses our cardiovascular equipment and weight training equipment along with a separate dance studio for group fitness classes and other activities. It is located on the lower level of the Wallace McCain Student Centre, 62 York St.
The weight room is located on the lower floor of the Athletic Centre, and provides cardiovascular and free weight equipment.
Mount Allison has two tennis courts located on York St. near the Bermuda House residence. Courts must be reserved in advance by calling 364-2408. Racquets are available and balls may be purchased, (3 for $6.00), at the Athletic Centre.
Alumni Field is Mount Allison's main athletic field. It is the home field for Mount Allison football, men's and women's soccer, and men's lacrosse teams, as well as a number of intramural sports.
The practice field beside the Curling Club (Lansdowne Field) and the Rectory Lane Field behind Jennings Dining Hall, can be used for recreational activities when there are no teams scheduled on them. Park Street field is restricted to scheduled activities. There is a running track around the main game field which may be used at convenient times.
Located just steps away from campus is the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre (TVMCC), open for lunchtime skating, pick-up hockey, intramural hockey, women's varsity hockey, and precision skating.
The Sackville Curling Club located steps away from campus at 22 Lansdowne St., caters to all ages and levels of interest.
