Mount Allison University Athletics and Recreation Facilities
The recreation facilities are available for use, with you're tailored Fitness Centre Membership choice. Our Athletics and Recreation facilities include Mount Allison's olympic-sized swimming pool, open-gym times in the Athletic Centre gymnasium, the weight room, fitness centre and studio.
The Athletic Centre
The Athletic Centre is home to the Department of Athletics and Recreation and includes a swimming pool, gymnasium, weight room, and athletic therapy room.
Gymnasium
The gymnasium hosts our Basketball, Volleyball, and Badminton Mounties. The gymnasium is also available for use at scheduled open recreation times. Proper clothing and non-marking running shoes are required.
Equipment is provided free of charge, although a $20 refundable deposit is required when borrowing equipment which will be removed from the building (i.e. soccer balls). Conference guests are asked to leave a room key or meal card as collateral when signing out equipment.
Fitness Centre and Fitness Centre Studio
This facility houses our cardiovascular equipment and weight training equipment along with a separate dance studio for group fitness classes and other activities. It is located on the lower level of the Wallace McCain Student Centre, 62 York St.
Pool
The olympic-sized swimming pool is available for use during scheduled membership swim times. Please visit the Membership section for access options. It is also the home of our Mounties' Swim team.
Weight room
The weight room is located on the lower floor of the Athletic Centre, and provides cardiovascular and free weight equipment.
Tennis courts
The Municipality of Tantramar has three tennis courts located just next to Landowne Field.
Playing fields
Alumni Field is Mount Allison's main athletic field. It is the home field for Mount Allison football, men's and women's soccer, and men's lacrosse teams, as well as a number of intramural sports.
The practice field beside the Curling Club (Lansdowne Field) and the Rectory Lane Field behind Jennings Dining Hall, can be used for recreational activities when there are no teams scheduled on them. Park Street field is restricted to scheduled activities. There is a running track around the main game field which may be used at convenient times.
Skating rink
Located just steps away from campus is the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre (TVMCC), open for lunchtime skating, pick-up hockey, intramural hockey, women's varsity hockey, and precision skating.
Golf course
The Sackville Golf Club is located at 42 Fairfield Rd. Golf Clubs can be rented at the Club. For further information, visit golfsackville.com.
Curling
The Sackville Curling Club located steps away from campus at 22 Lansdowne St., caters to all ages and levels of interest.
