Mounties Best Dragons in 3 Sets
The Mount Allison Mounties women's volleyball team returned to the McCormack Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon looking to continue their unbeaten streak at home against the Sainte-Anne Dragons.
Both teams would come out and play an evenly contested first set with the two sides tied at 18 late in the set. A strong service opportunity from Chloe Palmer and kills from Marie Fogarty, Logan Tait, and Emma Burns helped clinch the first set for Mount Allison 25-19.
Sainte-Anne would continue to hold tough in the second set, trailing by just 4 at 15-11 before a 6-point Mounties rally led by Erica Astephen would put the team ahead 21-11 and they would eventually take the set 25-14.
The Mounties would get off to a better start in the third set, leading by as many as 8 early in the frame before Sainte-Anne would bring it back to within two. That was as close as it would get however as Mount Allison would take the third set 25-21, ending the match in three.
Mount Allison (3-1) play their next match on Friday, November 15th on the road in Charlottetown as they take on the Holland Hurricanes with first serve set for 6:00pm. Sainte-Anne (0-5) return to Church Point next weekend and play host to the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics for their next match on Saturday, November 16thwith first serve set for 4:00pm.
