Mounties Remain Undefeated at Home with win over Tommies
The Mount Allison Mounties women's volleyball team returned to the McCormack Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon to take on the St. Thomas Tommies for their annual "Pink Game" in support of breast cancer research.
Mount Allison would get off to a lightning-fast start in this one, taking 11 of the first 12 points of the match. Their strong play would continue throughout the set thanks to strong serving from Logan Tait, and the Mounties would take the first set by a score of 25-16.
The Mounties would get off to a similar start in the second set, taking 10 of the first 13 points. However, the Tommies would storm back to take a 20-19 lead before the Mounties would respond with a 6-point rally led by Erica Astephen to win the set 25-20 and lead 2-0.
Parity was the story of the beginning of the third set as both teams traded points and were deadlocked at 11 before a Mount Allison rally led by Marie Fogarty opened the set up in favour of the home side. The Mounties would go on to take the set 25-19 and the match in straight sets, 3-0
