Mounties Victorious Over Rams in Straight Sets
The Mount Allison Mounties women's volleyball returned to the McCormack Gymnasium for the first time this season as they played host to the Dalhousie AC Rams with both squads looking for their first win of the season.
The Mounties would get the match started on the right foot as they led for the majority of the first set and would take it by a score of 25-19.
Mount Allison looked set for another comfortable win in the second set as they led 20-15, but a five-point rally from the Rams would tie the set at 20 apiece and force a Mounties timeout. The last points of the set were evenly played, and it would eventually be a Chloe Palmer kill that would give the Mounties a 2-0 advantage as they took the set 25-23.
A back and forth third set ensued to 15-12 in favour of Mount Allison when the Mounties would break the set open with a 7-point rally to go ahead by 10, eventually claiming the set 25-18 and the match in straight sets.
The Mounties were led by big performances from Erica Astephen, Emma Burns and Chloe Palmer while MSVU were led by strong play from Callie Immerkar.
Mount Allison (1-1) play their match on Sunday, November 3rd against the St. Thomas Tommies at home in Sackville with first serve set for 1:00pm. Dalhousie AC (0-2) return home to Truro to take on the UKC Blue Devils on Friday, November 1st with first serve set for 6:00pm.
