Mounties Defeat Mystics to Advance to ACAA Championship Game
The Mount Allison Mounties women's volleyball team were in Saint John this afternoon for their semi-final matchup with the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics with a trip to the ACAA championship game on the line.
The Mounties would get the match started on the right foot led by Chloe Nichols, taking a very even first set by a score of 25-23.
The back-and-forth style of the match would continue into the second set, but it would be the Mounties that would come out on top once again by a score of 26-24.
Mount Saint Vincent would not go away quietly however as they would bounce back to take the third set by a score of 27-25.
However, the lower-seeded Mounties would not be denied on the day as the team would go on a big run to start the fourth set and maintain a comfortable lead throughout to finish the match 25-14.
The Mounties were led by big performances from Chloe Nichols, Emma Burns and Erica Astephen while MSVU were led by strong play from Madyson Parlee and Sarah Ryan.
Mount Allison will take on the UKC Blue Devils tomorrow, February 25th at 12:00pm for the ACAA Championship and the right to go to the CCAA national tournament.
