Mounties Senior's Day Spoiled by Seawolves
The Mounties fell to the visiting UNBSJ Seawolves in a hotly contested battle for 5th position in the ACAA (Atlantic Collegiate Athletics Association) standings.
This was a special day for the Mounties as they honored two special graduating student-athletes, their captains.
- Emilie Botma, a "Middle" from Halifax Nova Scotia will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, Political Science
- Amanda MacBain a "Setter" from Charlottetown, PEI who will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science, Majoring in Psychology.
The Mounties are looking forward to seeing the great things these women will accomplish as they move on to their next chapters and wish them both the best of luck.
The first set went to the Seawolves 25-15, as they kept their momentum going following their 4-set victory on Saturday against the STU Tommies. The Mounties took the fight back to the Seawolves early in the Second set, taking a 10-6 lead. Unfortunately, they were not able to hold on as the Seawolves chased them down, scoring the next 6 points. The was little to separate the teams for the remainder of the set, but the Seawolves would not give up the lead again and the set finished with a score of 25-23 for the visitors. Up 2 sets, the Seawolves would keep the Mounties at arm's length in the third and final set as the Mounties last lead came a 4-3. The Mounties, serving down 23-21 were not able to push past the Seawolves and dropped the final set 25-21.
Mattye Robson and Emily Robichaud had 7 and 6 digs respectively for the Seawolves while the Mounties were led by Julia Henry and Rebecca Cotton, each with 5 in that category. On attack, Dominique Gendron had a game high 11 Kills, while Emily Robichaud had 9 kills and Sydney Flower added 8 Kills for the Seawolves. Emily Botma led the way for the Mounties with 7 Kills, while Chloe Nichols had 6.
