Mounties dig deep to beat Rams in five sets
(SACKVILLE, NB) This marks a week of mental health awareness for the Mounties as the Student-Athlete Mental Health Initiative (SAMHI) encouraged all in attendance today to keep the conversation going in an effort to improving mental well-being.
After a hard-fought match it was the Mounties who came out on top versus the Rams in five sets (24-26, 25-21, 25-9, 15-25, 17-15).
Leading the charge for the Mounties were Chloe Nichols (15 kills, 9 digs, 4 service aces and 2 solo blocks), Emilie Botma (11 kills, 7 digs and 3 solo blocks) and Julia Henry (9 kills, 11 digs and 1 service ace). Setter Logan Tait (Saint John, NB) poured in 44 assists to go along with seven digs and six service aces.
The Rams were led by Molly Marquis (9 kills, 9 digs and 4 service aces) and the combination of Callie Immerkar (Swan River, MN) and Ashley Rideout (Conception Bay South, NF) with seven kills each.
The Mounties (6-6) get back in the win column and will look to continue that momentum as they host UKC on January 28 at 1 p.m.
The Rams (3-9) for their part will travel to play Sainte-Anne on January 29 at 2 p.m.
