(MONCTON, NB) Mount Allison's Women's Volleyball team opened the 2022-23 season with a five-set win over St. Thomas. The scores were (20-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-16, 15-12). This game was hosted at Crandall University as McCormack Gymnasium continues to undergo renovations.
The Tommies got off to a quick start and were led offensively by the trio of Danica Godin (Fredericton, NB), Chloe Little (Rexton, NB) and Maddie MacGregor (Truro, NS). Godin registered six kills, five digs and four assists, Little had seven kills and 12 digs, while team captain MacGregor added six kills. Setter Julia Campbell (Sussex, NB) dished out 24 assists in the match.
The Mounties would eventually come back to send the game to five sets and go on to win. Rebecca Cotton (Fredericton, NB) led all Mounties with 14 kills, six digs and two service aces. The setting duo of Logan Tait (Saint John, NB) and Amanda McBain (Charlottetown, PEI) contributed 36 assists.
Mount Allison (1-0) will play host to Université Sainte-Anne tomorrow for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
St. Thomas (0-1) for their part will travel tomorrow to PEI to take on Holland, game is at 1 p.m.
