Mounties Play to Senior Day Draw with Dalhousie
(SACKVILLE, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties women's soccer team took to Alumni Field on Sunday afternoon for the final time in 2024 as they played host to the Dalhousie Tigers on a Senior Day which would see them honour six of their own.
It was a dream start for the Mounties as a penalty was won in the ninth minute and converted by Senior Taryn Greco to give Mount Allison the early 1-0 lead. Just before halftime, Bailey Hatcher would pick up a straight red card for Dalhousie from her tackle on a Victoria Jones breakaway. The teams would head into the half with the home Mounties ahead 1-0.
Dalhousie despite being down to 10 players showed an attacking front in the second half and were able to find an equalizing goal in the 66th minute courtesy of Elise Evans. Neither team was able to find the winning goal and the points were shared with the 1-1 draw.
After the match, the Mounties would honour Kathryn Perry, Hailey Frampton, Claire Sheppard, Talia Friesen, Taryn Greco and Kenadie Wagg as their six graduating seniors for the 2024 class.
