(SACKVILLE, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties women's soccer team returned to Alumni Field on Thursday evening to play host to local rivals, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues.
The visitors would be the ones to break the scoring open in this one in the 28th minute as Joelle Richard found the back of the net to give U de M the 1-0 lead. Just 3 minutes later the visitors would strike again, this time courtesy of Mylene Frenet with an assist coming from Joelle Richard to put Moncton ahead 2-0. The Mounties would not go away however as a Riley Curry corner kick took a deflection off a Moncton defender and into the back of the net to draw the home side within a goal heading into halftime.
Mount Allison would find the equalizer in the 69th minute courtesy of Riley Curry, and the Mountie defense would hold on to share the points, as the match would end 2-2.
Mount Allison (0-6-2, 10th in conference) will play their next match on Saturday, October 5th against the UNB Reds at home in Sackville with kick-off set for 1:00pm. Moncton (2-4-2, 7th in conference) will head to Newfoundland for their next match against Memorial on Friday, October 4th with kick-off set for 5:00pm.
