(SACKVILLE, NB) The Mounties women's soccer team took to the pitch at Alumni Field Sunday afternoon for their Senior Day match against the Cape Breton Capers, looking to build upon their 1-1 result with the UNB Reds Friday evening.
It was a game to remember for Alliyah Rowe (Kitchener, ON) scoring her 14th of the season off the left foot in just the 6th minute to put the visitors ahead early. Rowe was not finished however, finding the scoresheet again just 4 minutes later off a free kick to put Cape Breton ahead 2-0. She continued her incredible 20 minutes by scoring her third of the match off a header to put the Capers ahead by 3, securing a natural hat-trick for the 4thyear player. The first half produced another goal for Rowe however, as she extended the Cape Breton lead in the 37th minute.
Alliyah Rowe followed her 4-goal first half performance with a brace in additional time giving her 6 goals for the match. A valiant effort in the second half by the Mounties could not produce a goal and the match ended with a 6-0 score line in favour of Cape Breton. The player of the match was Kitchener, Ontario's Alliyah Rowe for her incredible 6-goal performance for the Capers, which broke an 18-year single-game scoring record in the AUS previously held by Tessa Roche of the UPEI Panthers.
Cape Breton (9-1-0) take the field again on Friday, October 20th in Fredericton against the UNB Reds with kick off set for 5:00pm. Mount Allison (0-8-2) play a rescheduled final home game of the season on Wednesday, October 18th at Alumni Field, kick off in that one is set for 6:00pm.
