(SACKVILLE, NB) Coming off an exciting 1-1 draw with the Université de Moncton on Friday evening, the Mounties women's soccer team took the field on a beautiful afternoon in Sackville in a game against the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks.
Both teams traded soft chances in the first half before Zoë Rowe (CBS, NL) broke open the scoring for Memorial in the 35th minute off a cross from Claire Langille (Fall River, NS). The teams went into the break with Memorial leading on the road 1-0.
The 2nd half started much like the first with both teams trying to control the midfield, before Zoë Rowe once again found the back of the net for the Sea-Hawks in the 81st minute, taking advantage of an opportunity created by a deflection. Now down by two, the Mounties were quick to respond with a goal of their own in the 84th minute off the head of centre back Maeve Williams (Bedford, NS) from a well taken corner by Kathryn Perry (Riverview, NB).
A valiant effort in the final 10 minutes was not enough as the Mounties dropped the match 2-1.
Memorial (5-2-1) travel to Cape Breton for their next mat on October 13th.
Mount Allison (0-5-1) will be back in action this Friday, September 29th in Antigonish, NS for a battle with StFX, kickoff is set for 5 p. m.
