The Mount Allison women's soccer Mounties capped off an undefeated weekend with a 2-1 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies at Alumni Field on Sunday. This caps a four point weekend for the Mounties, who played to a 0-0 tie with UNB on Friday night.
After a scoreless first half, the visiting Huskies opened the scoring when Hanna Dorey scored in the 54thminute. The Mounties would respond just 7 minutes later when Kiana Gagnon scored to even the score at 1-1.
The game stayed close until senior Amanda Piltzmaker made a great cut back move and launched a left foot strike over Huskies' keeper Grace Morrison's outstretched hands in the 87th. From there the Mounties were able to run out the clock and secure an important victory in the short 12 game AUS regular season.
The Huskies (0-4-2) attempted 8 shots on goal while the Mounties (1-3-1) had 10 shot attempts.
Saint Mary's returns to action on Friday, October 1st when they host Acadia. For their part, the Mounties travel to UdeM on Friday.
