The Mount Allison Women's Soccer Mounties hosted UPEI Panthers at Alumni Field in Sackville, NB Friday night to kick off the school's Homecoming 2016 weekend.
In front of returning Mounties' Women's Soccer alumni and fans, the two evenly matched squads went nose-to-nose for much of the game in the pitch's middle third.
Mounties 2nd year defender Diana Bowles (Ottawa, ON) singed the twine with the game's first goal at 23:20 and the Mounties led the match 1-0 until 79:32 when Danielle Younker replied for the Panthers.
Both teams enter the Thanksgiving break in the lower half of the standings with UPEI at 2-4-1 in 6th while the Mounties are 1-5-1 in a tie for 8th.
Only 4 points separate the crucial 5th and 6th place playoff berths from 8th spot at the break.
Next action for the Mounties is an away game at Dalhousie University, Sunday, 16 October, 2016 at 1:00pm.
