The Mount Allison Mounties women's soccer team jumped right back into the AUS playoff picture last night with an important 1-0 road win against l'universite de Moncton. Third year Mountie Charlotte Martin scored in the 61st minute to give the Mounties the lead and from there the Mounties were able to hold on and come out on top.
The win marks the fifth straight game where the Mounties have collected points, earning ties in all 4 previous games they have played. Wednesday's win was also the 2nd time this year that 2nd year Mounties keeper Tessa Ritchie has shutout les aigles bleues. The first shutout came during the teams' 0-0 at MacAulay Field on September 19th.
The Mounties now sit in a tie for 7th place with Dalhousie with 10 points on 2 wins, 2 losses and 4 ties so far this season. The Mounties are just 1 point out of the 6th and final playoff spot and only 3 points away from 3rd place in the very tight AUS standings. The Mounties are chasing after their 3rd straight AUS playoff appearance after breaking a 12 year drought in 2012.
The Mounties return to action this Sunday, October 5th when the host the UPEI Panthers at 1:00PM at McAulay Field.
