Nussbaum (O'Neal) also brings extensive international women's hockey experience, having represented her home country of Switzerland at both the Olympics and multiple IIHF Women's Hockey World Championships.  Nussbaum (O'Neal) fulfilled her Olympic dream when she played for Switzerland at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, recording a goal and 2 assists in 5 games. She also competed at the 2007, 2008 and 2009 IIHF World Women's Hockey Championships.

"We are thrilled to add the experience, leadership and hockey pedigree that comes with naming Lucrèce as our Head Coach," commented Director of Athletics and Recreation, Pierre Arsenault. "Coach Nussbaum will be able to relate to what life is like as an AUS student athlete. Her coaching style is to build accountabilty within our team culture and we know that our players are excited for the chance to build a championship program with her."

After Nussbaum (O'Neal) finished her playing career, she stayed in the Fredericton area and began coaching female hockey. She spent three years working with the Bantam AAA female Western Phantoms, serving as co-head coach in her final year. Nussbaum then returned to the Tommies and the AUS as an assistant coach in 2016 and 2017. After moving to Sackville to start work at Mount Allison, Nussbaum helped coach with the Tantramar Titans women's hockey program before joining the Mounties staff for the 2019-2020 season.
