(Sackville, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties were back in action at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre against the St. Mary's Huskies on Friday night.
The Mounties got off to a quick start in the first period with several rush chances. Katie Anhalt opened the scoring for Mount Allison on a two on one feed from Hailey Simoneau. Both teams settled in with the first period ending 1-0.
The second period got a little more chippy with each side taking three penalties. The Huskies were able to find the back of the net on a power play goal from Avery Cant to tie the score. Two more power play goals, both from Anna Barrington, brought the score to 3-1 for the Huskies after two periods.
St. Mary's was able to maintain their momentum into the third period. Marisa McClocklin scored 3:21 into the frame for the Huskies to bring the score to 4-1. An empty netter from Sarah Leopold made the final score 5-1 for visitors.
St. Mary's (7-7-5) are back in action on Saturday, January 25th on the road against St. Thomas, puck drop is at 3:00pm. Mount Allison (1-18) play St. Francis Xavier in Antigonish on Saturday, January 18th, puck drop is set for 7:00pm.
