(Sackville, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties and the St. Francis Xavier X-Women returned to AUS hockey action after the winter break on a cold Friday evening in Sackville.
Three quick goals in the first period got the X-Women the early lead. Kameryn Lahey got St. FX on the board first, followed by Kamdyn Switzer, and Kalle Hastman. Anna MacCara rounded out the first period scoring making it 4-0 going into the first intermission.
The second period opened with a bang for the X-Women as Mackenzie Lothian scored a power play goal 49 seconds in. Both teams settled in the rest of the period, trading scoring chances and penalties. At the end of two periods ST. FX was up 5-0.
Hailey Simoneau and Myah Stanfield got the Mounties on the board with a pair of goals in the third period. The X-Women were able to stop the come back short with two more goals from Joanna Martinsen and Tea Pearce to make the final score 7-2.
St. FX (13-2-3) is back in action next Friday, January 17th at home against St. Thomas, puck drop is set for 7:00pm. Mount Allison (1-16) finishes the second half of their back-to-back tomorrow at home against St. Thomas, puck drop is at 7:00pm.
