The Mount Allison Mounties women's hockey team returned to the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre on Friday night to play host to the Saint Mary's Huskies.
Saint Mary's would get the first goal of the game 5 minutes in as Mia Faseruk put the visitors ahead. Mount Allison would respond midway through the period thanks to Hailey Simoneau who evened the game at 1. Ava Shearer would find a goal with under 2 minutes to play in the first period to put the Huskies back on top with a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
The Huskies would find a shorthanded goal midway through the second period courtesy of Kate Gallant to double their advantage, heading into the third period ahead 3-1.
An early penalty for the Mounties in third period led to a Gillian Lapierre power play goal to make the score 4-1 in favour of Saint Mary's, a scoreline that would hold through the end of the game.
Saint Mary's (6-2-2) are back in action Friday, November 8th on the road in Moncton, puck-drop is set for 7:00pm. Mount Allison (0-9-0) are on the road to Antigonish tomorrow to take on StFX in a matinee, puck-drop set for 3:00pm.
