(SACKVILLE, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties women's hockey team returned to the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre on Saturday night as they played host to the UNB Reds.
An evenly played first period did not find the first goal of the game until the final minute as Rylee Strohm was able to break the deadlock and give the visitors a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
Both teams would trade opportunities and powerplays throughout the second period but neither team was able to add to the scoresheet and the teams went into the second intermission with UNB still ahead by a score of 1-0.
Lauren O'Neil would find a powerplay goal for the Reds just 22 seconds into third period to double the UNB advantage. Dallis Mackenzie would bring the Mounties back to within 1 just three minutes later the powerplay, but that would be the final goal as the Reds would take this one by a score of 2-1.
UNB (7-1-0) see their next action on Friday, November 1st at home against UPEI with puck drop set for 7:00pm. Mount Allison (0-8-0) have their next game on the 1st also as they take on the Saint Mary's Huskies in Sackville, with puck drop set for 7:00pm.
