
Mounties Drop Home Opener to X-Women

(SACKVILLE, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties women's hockey team returned to the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre on Friday night for their home opener against the St. Francis Xavier X-Women.
Mount Allison would get off to a hot start as Dallis Mackenzie found the back of the net within the first 3 minutes of the game to give the hosts the 1-0 advantage, which they would continue to hold through the end of the first period.
StFX would respond early in the second period as Mackenzie Lothian would light the lamp on the powerplay to tie the game at 1. Midway through the period the visitors would strike again as Tea Pearce put the X-Women ahead 2-1, a scoreline that would hold to the end of the second period.
Lothian would not be finished on the night as she would find her second goal of the game midway through the third period to extend the visitors lead to two and earn herself player of the game honours. StFX would go on to win the game by a score of 3-1.
St. Francis Xavier (1-0-0) continue their time in New Brunswick with a matchup against St. Thomas tomorrow, October 5th with puck drop set for 7:00pm. Mount Allison (0-1-0) will continue their homestand tomorrow, October 5th as they play host to UPEI, puck drop in that one is scheduled for 7:00pm.
