The Mount Allison University lady hockey Mountikes picked up their second win of the season on Saturday in Moncton against the University of Moncton Aigle Blues 2-1 as the Mounties scored in the first and last periods. The Mounties displayed hard work, determination, teamwork, and pressured the UDeM goaltender well. This was a hard earned victory for MTA and Coach Warren Mason was very pleased with the outcome.
Heather Richards( St. Anthony NFL, yr/2) opened the scoring for the Mounties at the 8:17 mark of the first period with the assists going to captain Mackenzie LaLonde and Oryssya Ellis. The game winning goal came from Andrea Bell( Miramichi NB, yr/1) at the 13:00 mark of the third period with the assists going to Jennifer Dillon and Ellis.
UdeM's lone goal came from Cassandra Labrie at the 13:13 mark of the second period with the assists going to Julie Theriau and Katherine Dubuc.
Mount Allison golatender Keri Martin stopped 40 of 41 shots faced while UdeM goalie Gabrielle Forget stopped 23 of 25 shots faced in the losing effort.
The teams face each other again Wednesday in Sackville at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Center.
