The Mount Allison Mounties gave up 5 second period goals en route to a 7-1 loss to StFX at home on Saturday night.
The Mounties actually opened the scoring just two and half minutes into the game when Kelly Matarazzo scored on the power play to give the Mounties a 1-0 lead. StFX's Sarah Bujold tied the score at 1-1 when she potted her first of 4 goals on the night at 11:34 of the first period.
The X-Women struck quickly to open the 2nd period when Connor Garagan walked out from the corner and beat Keri Martin for the 2-1 lead. From there it was actually three shorthanded goals that allowed StFX to take control of the game. Shorthanded goals by Sarah Johnson at 3:45, Jenna MacDonald at 6:55 and Sarah Bujold at 7:55 gave the X-Women a 5-1. Bujold scored here 3rd of the game with one minute remaining in the 2nd and she added her 4th with 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd.
The win moves the X-Women to 3-3 while the Mounties fall to 1-4. The Mounties travel to UPEI on Sunday for a 6PM game with the Panthers.
