
Mounties grab 3rd place with win over STU

The Mount Allison Mounties won the showdown for 3rd place on Sunday as they defeated the St. Thomas Tommies 65-57 in front of an excited home crowd. With the win the CCAA #11 ranked Mounties moved into 3rd place ahead of the Tommies. The Mounties sit at 8-6 on the season while the Tommies find themselves at 7-7.
It was once again sophomore Kiersten Mangold who led the way for the Mounties, dropping 16 points and giving the home team a staggering 14 rebounds. Freshman Karly Buckingham hit a career high 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting from the field. All-star point guard Sarah McGeachy chipped in with 9 points for the home side. Jessica Patenaude was the leading scorer for the Tommies with 19 points.
On Saturday the Mounties fell 70-41 to the MSVU Mystiques. After leading 20-19 at the end of the first quarter the home Mounties were only able to muster 20 points for the remaining 3 quarters. Sophomore Katherine Ollerhead was the high scorer for the Mounties with 10 points. Maria Carroll had a game high 18 points for MSVU.
The Mounties travel to Holland College this coming Saturday, February 18th.
