Mounties and UNB Reds Dual Meet #1 & #2
Dual Swim Meet #1 - January 14
The Mounties swim team lined up in their home pool on Sunday afternoon for a dual meet against UNB Reds. While UNB took 1st place overall, we had some good swims on both the men's and women's sides. The meet is a training event with many of our swimmers racing in their secondary events in preparation for the lead up to AUS Championships in mid-February.
Rookie Lauren Griffin-Lepine took our only individual win on the women's side with a solid lead in the 200 Breaststroke, while on the men's side, Sebastian Cariaga won the 200 Freestyle in a tight race over his UNB rival.
Placing top 3 for the Mounties:
Makayla Churchill showed her versatility with 2nd place finishes in the 50 Freestyle sprint, as well as in the 1500 Freestyle distance.
Ryan Duggan 2nd 1500 Freestyle
Abigail Flann 3rd 50 Free & 200 Free
John Roberts 3rd 50 Free & 2nd 200 Breaststroke
Andrew Kuiper 3rd 100 Free
Special mention to Evan Ettinger, who raced the 200 Butterfly for the first time this season with an impressive race very shortly after posting a personal best time in the 200 Freestyle. Other best times were set by Spencer McCarron in the 200 Free, Sophie Kidd in both the 50 & 100 Free & Jane Gurney in the 200 Individual Medley.
