(SACKVILLE, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties men's soccer team returned to Alumni Field on Thursday evening to play host to local rivals, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues.
The teams would play the first half to a goalless draw despite great chances from both sides throughout the first 45.
Mount Allison would find the opening goal just seconds into the second half as Carter Allison put away the cross from Jack Bennett to give the Mounties the 1-0 advantage. The ensuing 45 minutes would bring physical play and chances for both sides to change the outcome of the game, but it would be the home Mounties who would hold strong and prevail for their second win on Alumni Field this season.
Mount Allison (2-6-0, 9th in conference) will play their next match on Saturday, October 5th against the UNB Reds at home in Sackville with kick-off set for 3:15pm. Moncton (3-3-2, 4th in conference) will head to Newfoundland for their next match against Memorial on Friday, October 4th with kick-off set for 7:15pm.
