Hurricanes Defeat Mounties
The Mount Allison Mounties men's basketball team returned to the McCormack Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon looking for their second home win in a row against the Holland Hurricanes.
Holland would get out to a 7-point lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to strong play from Jaidon Martin with 5 points in the quarter. Rashawn Ferguson would come out aggressively for the Mounties and end up with 7 points and 5 rebounds in the quarter, but Holland would lead 20-13.
An evenly matched second quarter would see Aaron Simmons have 6 points to lead the Hurricanes and Ryan Norris 7 points to lead the Mounties, but it would be he visitors taking the lead into halftime, ahead 40-32.
Bryce Corless would get himself going in the third quarter with 11 points in the frame as the Hurricanes would open the lead out to 19 as they led at the end of the third quarter 64-45.
Mount Allison would be led by 7 points from Ryan Norris to cut into the Holland lead in the fourth quarter but it would not be enough as Jaidon Martin would help to lead the visitors to the 83-69 win.
Holland (3-2) return to action Saturday, November 23rd on the road in Halifax against MSVU with tip-off set for 6:00pm. Mount Allison (1-5) will take on Crandall in their next matchup on Saturday, November 23rd in Moncton, with tip-off set for 3:00pm.
