Basketball Mounties add Ryan Norris for the 2023-2024 campaign
Mountie Head Coach Steve Chapman is pleased to announce the addition of Ryan Norris to its basketball program this Fall as part of its 2023-2024 recruiting class. Norris, a 6'5 shooting guard is a native of Ottawa, Ontario and will be pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Norris, who will be graduating from South Carleton High School this Spring, is the team's second signing for the 2023-2024 season. Chapman added: "We really like what Ryan brings to the table for us with his size, length and especially his ability to shoot the basketball. His movement off the ball and the ability to shoot it long range off the catch is a valuable trait to have in our league. I know he has worked very hard on his club teams – 613 Believe, Brockville Blazers – to improve his overall game and we know he immediately provide us with depth and versatility at the guard position when he steps on campus in September."
Long-time coach Scott Meeson, who has coached a number of former and present Mounties from Ontario (Thomas LeGallais, Sam Pierson and Gabe Powter) speaks very confidently of Norris' ability stating, "Ryan is one of the best shooters I have coached. He has worked very hard to improve his individual defense. He is a very good rebounder and jumps very well. Having assisted in sending players to Steve over the past 6 years, I know Ryan will flourish both on and off the court at Mount Allison."
In choosing Mount Allison, Norris commented: " I chose MTA after my visit because I believe Mount A offers me the best opportunity to achieve both academic and athletic success. The entire process with the coaches and admissions staff gave me confidence in choosing Mount A knowing that they are all on board with helping me succeed both on and off the court. I look forward to joining the Mountie family this September."
Welcome Ryan!
