Mounties continue to build for 2022-2023 season – welcome Nathan Kayembe
The Mounties Men’ s Basketball team is pleased to announce the addition of 6’5 small forward Nathan Kayembe from London, Ontario. Keyambe, 19, is transferring from Providence University College in Manitoba and will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree this Fall.
Before attending Providence University College, members of the MCAC (Manitoba Colleges Athletic Association and NCCAA -Div. 2 (National Christian College Athletic Association) Kayembe played at Mother Teresa Secondary School in London, Ontario. In addition to his high school experience, Kayembe participated on several club teams including the London Ramblers, Running Rebels, and Prime Time Elite. According to Mounties Coach Steve Chapman, “we believe Nathan can develop within our program and be a solid ACAA player for us. Nathan is coming to us after his freshman year at PCU where they played schedules both in Canada and the US. Unfortunately, Nathan was sidelined much of the season with injury, but we like his athleticism and work ethic as well as his ability to really defend and rebound, both of which are admirable qualities to have in a player in the ACAA. With these attributes, and the versatility to play more than one position on the floor, we are confident Nathan will embrace his new surroundings and grow and develop alongside a number of other first and second year players that we will have next year”.
In selecting Mount Allison, Kayembe noted, “After discussing it with my family and my conversations with Coach Chapman, I knew Mount Allison would be the best fit for me academically and athletically”. Kayembe joins 6’6 Gabe Powter from Almonte, Ontario, 6’7 Rashawn Ferguson of Nassau, Bahamas, 6’4 Connor Briand of Kingston, Ontario and 5’11 Momar Niang of Victoria, BC as part of its 2023 recruiting class.
Welcome Nathan!
