Ontario’s Connor Briand to join Men's Basketball Mounties for 2022-2023 season
Mounties Men’s Coach Steve Chapman is pleased to announce Connor Briand of Kington, Ontario has committed to Mount Allison this Fall. The Mounties continue to add quality prospects to join a significant returning core for the 2022-2023 campaign. The versatile 6’ 4 190 lb. Briand becomes the second quality student athlete to join the Mounties in the last few weeks. Gabe Powter, a 6’6 forward out of Almonte, Ontario has already committed to wear the Garnet and Gold colors as well this Fall.
Briand, a skilled small forward, will be bringing lots of basketball experience to the table. Briand, an honor roll student, has been a key contributor at Frontenac High School in Kingston, Ont , just recently helping his team win Kingston’s City Championship and in 2019-2020 a member of Frontenac’s AA OFSAA provincial championship team. Briand also has participated in club basketball with both Eastern Ontario Elite and the Kingston Impact. Adds Chapman, “In addition to great references and video, we followed Connor closely the last month or so of his season and his recent visit to campus confirmed our initial thoughts that Connor will be a great fit for us and certainly a quality player in the ACAA. His size, physicality both defensively and offensively, and his ability to run the floor and play more than one position is attractive to our style of play. Those associated with coaching Connor describe him as a glue guy in that he is coachable, competitive, is tough as nails and does all the little things well, all the things coaches like, that do not necessarily appear on a stat sheet. Our coaches saw this during his visit. We are extremely excited Connor has chosen MTA; he will be a solid addition to our program moving forward”
In selecting Mount Allison, Briand noted, “I chose MTA because everyone I’ve talked to has loved their experience and I feel that MTA is the best fit for me”
Welcome to Mount Allison Connor!!!
