The Mount Allison Mounties have waited over 2 months for the chance to play ACAA basketball again. When the chance finally came, they were ready to go as they defeated the UNBSJ Seawolves 94-65 in front of an enthusiastic hometown crowd.
The Mounties seized control early, building a 27-12 lead in the first quarter and a 53-24 lead by half time.
Senior Sam Pierson led the way with 17 points and 9 rebounds for a Mounties squad that got points from 9 different players. Tim Ellison gave the Mounties 19 minutes off the bench, picking up 14 points and 9 rebounds of his own. Noah McCarthy and Jonas Munroe posted 12 points each as scoring spread throughout the team.
Jack Fury-Miller scored 16 points for the visiting Seawolves on 5 of 10 shooting from the field. Colin Loughery also had 11 points for the Seawolves.
With the win, the Mounties move to 4-4 while UNBSJ drops to 0-8 on the season so far.
