The Mount Allison Mounties lost 69-60 to the MSVU Mystics at home on Sunday.
The Mystics got off to a quick start, making shots early and building a 20-12 lead after the first quarter. The Mounties would spend the rest of the game working to cut into that lead but were unable to close the gap. The Mounties made a push in the 4th quarter, outscoring the Mystics 18-11 but it wasn't enough to change the outcome of the game.
Noah McCarthy led the Mounties with 18 points on the day to go along with 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Jonas Munroe and Sam Pierson each had 10 points for the defending ACAA champions.
Dawson Berze-Butts led all scorers in the game with 22 points for the Mystics.
The Mounties return to action on Friday as they host the St. Thomas Tommies before finishing out the first half with a trip to UNBSJ on Sunday.
