Mounties welcome Igor Radic to men's basketball program
Mounties Head Coach Steve Chapman is pleased to announce that Igor Radic, 19, of Toronto , Ontario has committed to the Mount Allison's Men's Basketball team for the 2020-2021 season. The 6'5 200lb shooting guard is expected to bolster the Mounties line up and play a key role for the reigning ACAA Champions when they hit the court this Fall.
Radic will be reunited with his former high school teammate and present Mountie scoring guard, Emanuel Adugna , when they played together at Victoria Park Collegiate Institute in Toronto in Grade's 9-10. Radic also played for the Scarborough Blues of the OBA Division 1 where twice he was chosen as an OBA Provincial All Star. In addition to playing for the Northern Kings AAU Travel team in 2016, he transferred to Metro Prep playing there for his Grade 11 and 12 years 2016-2018. Radic, an honor role student throughout high school , chose not to pursue university basketball upon graduation rather focusing on his academics, spending the last two years attending Ryerson University where he will transfer from this Fall.
According to Chapman, " Igor can really play, can score the ball, has an awesome work ethic, really trains hard ,and has the ability to play more than one position next season. We know Igor had the opportunity to stay closer to home and had some options to play for some Usport and CCAA rosters so we are very pleased he has chosen Mount Allison to follow both his academic and basketball aspirations". Chapman believes Radic's transition to a new school and program will flow very smoothly stating, " Igor was able to visit campus back in January where he was able to get his questions answered about his studies and courses as well as spending a weekend on campus with our guys , working out and watching us play. He knows our guys, he watched our games on line, and followed our progress and style of play throughout the remainder of the season. I really believe Igor steps in feeling very much at home and quite comfortable with our expectations and style of play. We are excited about all as we attempt to keep attracting quality student athletes to our program" . Radic seems to echo such , " I chose to play at MTA because I believe it is the best combined fit of academics and athletics for me. MTA is one best academic schools in the country and the basketball program has had lots of success. I believe I can fit in well with the current players and I am excited to start a new journey this Fall and contribute to another successful season"
Radic will be entering his third year of study pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce program.
