Men's Basketball Mounties keep rolling with a close win over the Crandall Chargers!
This past Wednesday, January 15th, 2020, the Men's Basketball Mounties continued their winning streak, in Moncton, with a hard fought 83-80 win over the Crandall University Chargers. This is the men's basketball Mounties seventh-straight ACAA win going back to early November 2019 and in the second weekend of the season. Our first-place men's basketball MOUNTIES are 7-2 in league play and maintain a 10th place national ranking in the CCAA.
The Mounties vs. Chargers game was everything it was expected to be with a big, loud and energetic crowd while the game was closing in on the final seconds. The Mounties lead 46-37 at half-time and built up a lead as high as 16 points during the third quarter and again used a balanced attack, with key defensive stops and clutch free throws, to the late Crandall surge; notching this win against their archrival, Crandall Chargers.
The Mounties Sam Pierson had 16 points and 7 rebounds and lead the Mounties attack while teammate James French also turned in a solid performance with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four additional Mounties in double figures included Emmanuel Octavious with 13 points, Emanuel Adugna, Aram Currie, and Noah McCarthy with 12 points each. Jerome Adjei led Crandall, with 17 points. The basketball Mounties are officially half way through their season schedule, with nine games remaining.
