Mount Allison Mounties Men's Basketball program is pleased to announce new recruits
Steve Chapman, head coach of the Mounties men's basketball team, is pleased to announce that Aram Currie, Riverview, NB and James French, Moncton, NB, will be joining the Mounties next year. Both will be key additions to the Mounties who return a strong core from a team with a second place finish in the ACAA with a 17-4 record and their first ever trip to the CCAA nationals this past March.
Both French and Currie have much in common. They are both excellent student athletes who will be enrolling in Bachelor of Science programs this fall. Both have been part of BNB provincial teams throughout their careers, most recently the U-17 team. They were named first team NBIAA Provincial All-Stars this past year as well as being their teams leading scorers and team MVP's at their respective schools.
Currie, at 6' 2", is described as one of the best all round guards in the province, a great scorer and an aggressive competitor on both sides of the ball. This past year he led the Royals in scoring at 21.9 points per game along with 10 rebounds and 5 assists a game.
French, at 6'4", provides the Mounties with additional depth and length at the 3 position. French led the Highlander's with 18.7 points per game along with 13 rebounds per game.
According to Chapman, "We could not be any more fortunate to have James and Aram joining us next year. We feel they are among the premiere players in the province the past few years, both are of quality character, hard workers, very talented and very coachable. They are exactly the kind of student athlete we wish to attract to Mount Allison and we feel both will have successful and positive experiences with in our program. We are indeed fortunate to have them with us next year."
