Basketball Mounties add another among NB's elite
The Mount Allison men's basketball team has landed yet another key basketball player from among New Brunswick's elite. Head Coach Steve Chapman is pleased to announce that Harvey High School's Brett Curtis has committed to attend Mount Allison this coming fall. The Mounties, who were ACAA finalists and attended their first ever CCAA National Championships this past March, have successfully attracted some of New Brunswick's best high school players from this past 2017 campaign.
The Mounties have already announced 6'4 forward James French from Bernice MacNaughton High School as well 6'1 guard Aram Currie from Riverview High are joining the Mounties.
Curtis, who will be taking a Bachelor of Science program, is well known throughout the province having been a member of the NB U-15 team as well as two summers with the U-17 provincial team. The 6'1 combo guard is a three time NBIAA provincial all star and helped guide his Harvey High Lakers to yet another provincial banner this past year at Harbor Station averaging 28 ppg 7 rebounds and 5 assists his senior year. Curtis will be reunited with Currie and French who were teammates with U-17 team NB.
According to Chapman, "we could not be anymore pleased with the recruiting class we have had in NB this year. It's always nice to keep local players at home where they can continue to play basketball at a high level beyond their high school years. Brett is fierce competitor, knows how to win and has been well coached. He along with Currie and French will be names you will be hearing about in our league. They are all excellent student athletes and we are excited of the contributions they will make both on and off the court as key members of our program moving forward. They will fit very nicely with the strong returning core we have for next season and we are very pleased these three outstanding NB talents have chosen Mount Allison"
