The Mount Allison Mounties are guaranteed to finish no worse than 2nd place in ACAA men's basketball thanks to an 84-50 win over the St. Thomas Tommies on Sunday. With a 1st or 2nd place finish the Mounties have earned a 1st round bye for the ACAA Championships to be played at Mount Allison from March 3rd-5th.
The Mounties got scoring from 9 different players in the win over the Tommies. Leading 43-21 at halftime, the Mounties found themselves outscored 19-9 in the 3rd quarter but the home side answered with 32 points in the 4th quarter to cruise to victory.
Thomas LeGallais was the leading scorer for the Mounties with 22 points while senior Alex Chisholm had 17 points and freshman Yanniv Perez had 16 points. For STU, Mitch Claybourn was top scorer with 13 points.
The Mounties lost 75-63 on Saturday against MSVU. Senior Brad Fuller was top scorer for the Mounties on Saturday with 17 points.
