(SACKVILLE, NB) Under a sunny sky in Sackville Saturday afternoon, the Mount Allison Mounties football team welcomed the Bishop's Gaiters as well as current students and Alumni alike for Homecoming festivities at Alumni Field.
The visitors would get an early safety for the first points of the game and would add to their lead midway through the first quarter as a Mathieu Payette strip-sack led to a 55-yard fumble recovery touchdown for Bishop's. At the end of the first quarter, the Gaiters led by a score of 9-0.
O'Shae Ho-Sang ran the ball in from one yard out at 9:42 in the second quarter to extend the visitors lead to 16. A safety would make the score 18-0 in favour of the Gaiters, and an interception return for a touchdown by Cherif Camara and missed field goal returned for a touchdown by Cedric Maurice would open the game up to 32-0. Bishop's would add a rouge and safety before the half was out to head back to the locker room ahead 35-0.
Halftime brought a great performance from the Mount Allison varsity Dance program, followed by a special presentation of members from the 2010-2014 Mounties football programs that won back-to-back AUS championships as part of the school's "Reignite The Flame" campaign. It was announced that the #80 worn by Gary Ross during this time would be retired for the 2025 season and beyond.
Bishop's would score in the third quarter from a 24-yard field goal from Xavier Gervais, 20-yard touchdown reception by Isami Sansoucy and a 2-yard touchdown run by O'Shae Ho-Sang. The score at the end of the third quarter was 52-0 in favour of Bishop's.
The final quarter would bring a 29-yard field goal from Xavier Gervais and 41-yard interception return touchdown from Joseph Manga, and the game would finish with a final score of 62-0 in favour of the Gaiters.
