Chapman is entering his 40^th year of coaching this year.

Chapman returned to his alma matter, Mount Allison University, seven seasons ago (2017) and has since helped to guide the Mounties men's basketball team through three appearances in the ACAA Championship game as well as the University's first ever appearance at the CCAA National Championships in 2017. In 2020 Chapman was selected the 2019-2020 ACAA Coach of the Year as the Mounties claimed their first ever ACAA Championship in March in Halifax. The Mounties were to have travelled to Toronto for the CCAA National Championships before they were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It would have been the garnet and gold's second appearance in four years at the National Championships.

Coach Chapman is a two time 'NBIAA High School Coach of the Year,' he coached Provincial New Brunswick teams and still appears as a guest coach at numerous camps throughout the Maritimes. 

He formerly coached Mounties Basketball as a Head Coach from 1992 to 2000 and before returning to the Mounties in 2017, Chapman worked as a Teacher/Administrator in the Anglophone East school district for 32 years; retiring in 2017.

Chapman is former head coach of the Bernice MacNaughton High School varsity boys’ team in Moncton, NB (2012 to 2016), combined with six years coaching the MacNaughton varsity females; winning back to back NBIAA Provincial Championships (2007 and 2008).

He is a former assistant coach with the Moncton Miracles, of the National Basketball League of Canada (2011-12).

No stranger to accolades in the basketball world, Chapman was inducted into the Horton High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008 and is a recipient of Basketball New Brunswick’s Longevity Service Coaching Award (2008).

A former Mounties team member, wearing the garnet and gold from 1978 to 1982, Chapman was the Mounties Team Captain during the 1981-82 season.
