JOEY’S PIZZA AND PASTA MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Mount Allison’s Department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to announce that the Joey’s Pizza and Pasta Male Athlete of the Week for the week of October 6th-12th is Donovan Saunders of the football Mounties.
Saunders, a 4th year defensive back from Brampton, ON, helped the football Mounties move to 6-0 on the season as they defeated Saint Mary’s at home 33-1. With the win, the Mounties have clinched first place and are now guaranteed to host the Loney Bowl for the AUS Championship on Saturday, November 8th.
During the last two weeks in two wins over Saint Mary’s, the Mounties have outscored the Huskies 71-1 with Saunders and his Mounties defense giving up only a single rouge point in two games. Saunders led all Mounties with 5.5 tackles. Saunders also had a 38 yard interception which he returned to the 1 yard line, setting up the Mounties second touchdown of the day.
Saunders and the Mounties travel to Acadia to play the Axemen on Saturday, October 18th before finishing the regular season by hosting NFL on Campus as they play host to StFX on Saturday, October 25th at 2PM. NFL on Campus includes many interactive games in the NFL fan zone which will be set up at MacAulay Field.
