Mounties Drop ACAA Championship Final to UKC
The Mount Allison Mounties women's volleyball team took to the court on Sunday afternoon for the ACAA Championship final against the first-seeded UKC Blue Devils, in hopes of their first ACAA title since 2011.
A tight first set would go the way of the Blue Devils as the Mounties were unable to close the gap and King's took the set by a score of 25-22.
UKC would show grit in the second set as they weathered an 8-point run by the Mounties to take a 2-0 set lead, once again taking the set by a score of 25-22.
The Mounties, led by Emma Burns, would not go away quietly however as they got off to a hot start in the third set forcing an early timeout from the Blue Devils, but the #1 seed in the ACAA was too much to overcome on the day as UKC, led by Maya Lees, took the third and final set by a score of 31-29.
Mount Allison finishes a campaign that saw the group go 13-5 in regular season play and knock off the host UNBSJ Seawolves and higher-seeded Mount Saint Vincent Mystics on their way to the championship game. For the UKC Blue Devils, their season will continue on to the CCAA National Championship in Red Deer, Alberta from March 6th-9th.
