Mounties Surge to Straight Set Win over Dragons
(SACKVILLE, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties women's volleyball team was back in action at the McCormack Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon as they welcomed the Sainte-Anne Dragons, in hopes of bouncing back from a home loss to UKC a week ago.
The home Mounties would get off to a hot start leading to an early timeout from the Dragons and a decisive first set win of 25-10.
The visiting Dragons would not go away easily however as they would rally for a back-and-forth second set, but clutch kills from the Mounties down the stretch would give them the 2-0 lead as they took the second set by a score of 25-21.
Sainte-Anne would lead by as many as 4 points in the third set, but once again it was the home Mounties who rallied from a 13-9 deficit to take the third and final set by a score of 25-20. Top performers for the Mounties were Emma Burns (Fredericton, NB) with 7 kills and Erica Astephen (Halifax, NS) with 6. Top performers for the Dragons were Jillian MacDonald (Shediac Bridge, NB) and Megan d'Entremont (Pubnico, NS) with 4 kills apiece.
Mount Allison (3-2) are back in action tomorrow, November 26th on the road as take on the UNBSJ Seawolves with first serve set for 2:00pm. USTA travel to Fredericton tomorrow to take on the St. Thomas Tommies with first serve set for 12:00pm.
