Make it 4 in a row for the Mounties
Make it four wins in a row for the Mount Allison Mounties women's soccer program as they defeated the UdeM Aigles Bleues 2-1 at Alumni Field on Wednesday. The win is the 3rd in 6 days for the Mounties, as they had already defeated UdeM 3-0 on Friday and Dalhousie 1-0 on Sunday.
The Mounties were lightning quick out of the gate as Kiana Gagnon gave her team a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute of the game.
Louise Aucoin was quick to respond for the visiting team as she scored in the 19th minute to knot the score at 1-1.
But the Mounties would regain the lead before the end of the first half when senior Amanda Piltzmaker scored in the 38th minute. This was Piltzmaker's 4th goal of the season, moving her into a tie for 3rd place among AUS scoring leaders.
Kaitlyn Strickland made 2 saves in goal for the Mounties en route to the win. Chelsea Burham was in goal for UdeM.
With the win, the Mounties (4-3-1, 13 points) move into a tie with Dalhousie for 4th place in the AUS standings. The Mounties will now take Thanksgiving weekend off before returning to action on Saturday, October 16thwhen they host UPEI at Alumni Field. Moncton will see their next action on Saturday, October 16th when they host Saint Mary's.
