Mounties well represented at 2024 U SPORTS Swimming National Championships
(MONTREAL, QC) Jordan Thomas and Sebastian Cariaga represented Mount Allison at U SPORTS Swimming National Championships this weekend in Montreal. Competing with over 350 swimmers from across the country, our small team raced well, placing the Mounties on the scoreboard at this level for the first time in four years.
Coming off a four medal winning performance only two weeks ago at AUS Swimming Championships, Jordan's top performance came in the 200 Breaststroke on Saturday where she qualified for the C final. Making the transition from racing short course in the morning to race long course in finals, Jo finished with an impressive 20th place. Jordan also raced the 50 & 100 Breaststroke, and the 200 IM.
Sebastian, also a multiple medallist at AUS Swimming Championships, raced in the 50, 100 & 200 Backstroke. He qualified for a final swim in the 100 Backstroke on Saturday where he finished 20th overall. Racing again on Sunday, he qualified for finals in the 200 backstroke where he placed 18th, almost winning the C final with a very close touch at the wall. A Bolivian citizen, Seb set National (Long Course) records in both the 100 and 200 Backstroke events.
Both swimmers are keen to get back in the pool and join their teammates as they prepare for the 2024-25 season.
