Mounties keep on rolling , Win 5th in a Row with Road Victory Over UKC
The Mounties men’s basketball team earned another hard-fought win in ACAA play on Sunday over the University of Kings College Blue Devils 94-85 in Halifax. The road victory, combined with the teams home win over nationally ranked Holland College Hurricanes Friday night 86-74, pushes the garnet and golds record to 7- 4 and their 5th consecutive win in ACAA play.
At Kings, the Mounties overcame an early 23-8 deficit and scored 31 second quarter points to gain a 44-35 halftime lead. The Mounties were led in scoring by Sam Pierson with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Igor Radic of Toronto continued his offensive production with 21 points, 4th year stand out Noah McCarthy added 19 on 8-11 shooting from the floor and senior guard Minwoo Park added 11 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals in the Mounties Road win, Freshman forward Tim Ellison came off the bench to provide 9 points. With the win, the Mounties secured a 3rd place finish in the parity filled ACAA and will host an ACAA Championship quarter final match up on Wednesday, March 9th with their opponents and game details still to be determined. This Thursday night, the Mounties will travel to PEI to face the Holland College Hurricanes for their last regular season game. Final standings for the ACAA’s and first round playoff match ups will not be determined until the conclusion of all ACAA games March 5.
