The second place Mount Allison Mounties defeated the third place Crandall Chargers 85-78 in front of an electric McCormack gymnasium crowd on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Mounties move to 13-1, 5 games clear of Crandall who sit at 8-6. The Mounties, who led 46-34 at half time, got 25 points from senior Alex Chisholm as he went 8 of 13 from the field with 3 three pointers. Chisholm also led the Mounties with 9 rebounds. Freshman Thomas LeGallais had 21 points while senior Bradley Fuller had 18.
Crandall were led by Thomarcus Nix, who scored 20 points, with 19 coming in the 2nd half. Treyvon David had 14 points, including 4 three pointers.
The Mounties head to Saint John on Sunday to take on the UNBSJ Seawolves.
