Mounties announce signing of Mya Artibello
The Mount Allison University Women's Volleyball team is proud to announce our latest committed athlete, Mya Artibello. Mya is a 5'10" outside attacker from Antigonish, Nova Scotia. For the past 4 seasons, Mya has been a member of the Dr. JH Gillis High School Volleyball Team where she has received awards including Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player. She has spent her summers representing Nova Scotia as a member of the provincial team, getting exposure to some high-level coaches and gameplay. While Mya was formerly a member of the Kempe Volleyball program, she is playing for the Cougars Club program this club season. Her experience and power will add to the depth of the Mounties program.
"I am thrilled to have Mya join the Mounties program; she is a very skilled leftside hitter with a high volleyball IQ. Mya is an elite attacker who takes pride in defence and serve-receive. She can put a ball away and is a hard worker. Mya has grown up around the game with her father formerly being the Head coach of the STFX women's program for 8 seasons. When she first steps on campus, we will get stronger as a team. As a coach, my goal for the next season is to have a deep roster of athletes who hate to lose, and Mya fits that mould to a tee. Mya is someone who asks a lot of questions and enjoys being a student of the game. This is key for players so that they can learn and grow as athletes and can make an impact as they get to a higher level. Mya will be an exceptional addition to the culture of the program, here at Mount Allison University," states Coach Crouse.
Welcome to the Mounties Family, Mya!
