Mounties start 2nd half with win over Seawolves

It was a long time coming but ACAA basketball made its triumphant return to the region on Saturday as the Mount Allison Mounties defeated the UNBSJ Seawolves 75-54 in Sackville on Saturday. There was energy in the air as fans were able to enjoy live basketball action for the first time in over 2 months.
The Mounties took the lead from the start, opening with a first quarter lead of 18-9. The Seawolves worked hard to not let the Mounties stretch the lead further, playing to a 16-15 2nd quater as the teams entered half time with the Mounties leading 34-24. After a close the 3rd quarter, the Mounties shut the door in the 4th quarter as they put the finishing touches on a 75-54 win.
Abby Miller led the way for the Mounties with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Miller caused problems for the Seawolves all afternoon by driving the net and drawing fouls. Miller ended the day 10 of 12 from the free throw line. Sophie Trail added 14 points for the Mounties and Maddy Greatorex chipped in with 10 for the home side.
Abby Ring-Dineen matched Miller's game high 19 points to lead the way for the Seawolves. Bailey Henderson picked up 15 points in the loss for the Seawolves.
With the win the Mounties move to 5-3 while UNBSJ drops to 0-8.
