Mounties pick up road win at Holland

The #11 CCAA ranked Mount Allison Mounties rolled into Charlottetown Thursday night and came away with a 73-57 win over the #9 ranked Holland Hurricanes.
With the win, the Mounties move into a tie for 2nd place with the Hurricanes with 1 game in hand. The Mounties also now hold the tie-breaker with the defending league champions, having beaten the Hurricanes twice and only losing once this year.
The Mounties were led offensively by senior Erin Steeves who had 15 points on 7 of 15 shooting. Steeves also had 7 rebounds for the visitors. Senior Sarah McGeachy had 13 points in the win to go along with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. All-Canadian Kiersten Mangold had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Mounties trailed 17-8 at the end of the first quarter but stormed back with 20 points in the 2nd quarter while only giving up 9, to take a slim 28-26 lead at halftime. The Mountie then outscored the Hurricanes in each of the 3rd and 4th quarters as they pulled away for the win.
The Mounties are gearing up to host the 2018 CCAA women's basketball nationals for the first time in school history from March 14th-17th, 2018.
